Creative prom proposals on the rise (now with added pix!)
Seniors Drew Gosnell and Dylan Parlee, and junior Casey Weld went all out in asking their dates to prom this year.
Dylan Parlee waited until halftime at the boys basketball game on Tuesday to go on the court, take the microphone, and asked senior Carina Taliaferro to prom in front of both teams and all the spectators.
She said yes.
Casey Weld worked with the main office in his plan to ask senior Oliva Colpoys to prom. She was called down to the office, and high school front office administrator Mary Lumsden told her that Principal James Lee needed to talk to her in the auditorium. When she walked in, Weld was there with flowers and “Will you go to prom with me?” projected up on the big screen on the stage.
She said yes.
Drew Gosnell donned a tuxedo to ask senior Molly Friedman to prom. Senior Grace Gillette went to find Molly studying in the library and asked her to go to her locker, however Molly said she needed to come speak to MEMO teacher Caroline Epp. Gosnell and a gaggle of his friends came looking for her in Epp’s room, but she was still in the library, so they went upstairs and found her in the hall. Gosnell dropped to one knee and offered her a large jewelry box. Inside was a cut out heart that said “Prom?”
She said yes.
If you plan an interesting proposal, please contact MEMO at eppc@mersd.org so that it can be documented.
